Summer has landed – and Media Cubs has expanded!
Young people in Greater Manchester are set to become mini reporters, tiktokers and YouTubers – thanks to more Media Cubs’ crew members and new partnerships. School holidays never looked better as hundreds of kids aged 7-16 from Manchester, Salford, Wigan, Bolton, Trafford, Stockport who will be able to get stuck into creative and digital challenges.
The Media Cubs staff team, now 20 members strong, will be visiting various summer camps and clubs across the region linking in with sports community clubs such as Wigan Warriors Community Foundation, Wigan Athletic Community Trust, Sale Sharks, Foundation 92, Stockport Life Leisure, Salford Life Centre, Lancashire Cricket Club, Manchester City Council, Wigan Council, and many more. The project has already worked with big names such as Greater Manchester Violence Reduction Unit and The Dukes Theatre to deliver media workshops and to produce video content led entirely by young people.
Kirsty Day, co-founder of Media Cubs, said: “We believe that children from all backgrounds have a place in the newsroom and should feel confident that their views matter and voices will be heard.
“This summer is our biggest ever and we are thrilled to be able to deliver our sessions to so many more kids. We have worked with over 1000 already since we began… and counting!
“From video making, to photography, presenting, interviewing, stop-motion making and debating, there is something for everyone to enjoy and benefit from.”
