JOIN US! Second fully funded training academy set to launch in June

Do you enjoy working with curious and creative kids and want to inspire the next generation to become confident communicators?

Join us if you:

  • Have a passion for supporting children to develop their confidence
  • Are interested in media, digital or creative activities (but you don’t have to be an expert!)
  • Are looking for a flexible summer job

The Media Cubs team is running its second academy to train summer camp workers to work alongside our Media Cubs Leaders.  The Academy will launch in June, ready to deliver part-time summer camps Monday-Friday throughout August. You will be paid for participating in the Academy. It will be delivered flexibly through a combination of virtual, group, and independent learning.

Each summer camp worker will receive a handbook packed full of lesson plans, session activities, and guidance.

Media Cubs project leader ‘Big Boss’, Kirsty Day, said: “This past year has been jam-packed with working with our mini reporters in various ways through the pandemic to ensure we continued to give them a voice and a platform to learn how to create, debate and navigate the news with confidence. Working with the first cohort of Media Cubs leaders has been fantastic and they can’t wait to get started working with mini reporters across the North West.

“So, I am delighted that we now have the opportunity to expand our newsroom team even further with a second Media Cubs Academy to keep mini reporters busy during the summer holidays.

“Working with mini reporters is fun, rewarding and inspiring – come and join us!”

Places on the Media Cubs Academy are fully funded and we will fund DBS-checks. Limited places are available. No previous journalism experience required.
